Expectations
The Music Director will:
- Work with the Pastor and musicians to facilitate and support praise and worship.
- Attend church services and related activities.
- Plan ahead to provide musicians and church secretary lists of songs in a timely manner allowing for practice and bulletin publication.
- Plan and direct regular musical practices.
- Incorporate and welcome musicians within the congregation to participate in the music ministry of our church. (Specials, adding instruments to the praise team, choir, etc.)
- Prepare a balanced mixture of traditional hymns and contemporary music.
- Keep the weekly music fresh and filled with variety.
- Share a vision of church growth and be willing to help achieve this goal.
Position Requirements
The Music Director must:
- Have a personal relationship with the Lord.
- Be filled with the Spirit.
- Have experience in a church setting.
- Be willing to listen, lead, and follow.
- Possess and exhibit musical ability.
- Be familiar with both traditional hymns and contemporary worship music.
- Be willing and able to work with a multi-generational congregation

This position will require travel to oversee foster families and placements in other areas of East Tennessee including, but not limited to Morristown/Dandridge/Mountain City. Applicant must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in social work, sociology, psychology, education, or related field and one (1) year of pertinent experience in the human services field with children or in a residential treatment setting. Volunteer experience, practicum and intern experiences in programs/facilities that work with children and families may be counted as pertinent work experience. A master’s degree in the social sciences may be substituted for the one year of work experience. The qualified applicant is a person of proven character and integrity, and an active member of a local evangelical church with a recommendation from the pastor of that church.
