All About the Baptist Center

The Johnson City Baptist Center is located directly across from the Tyler Apartment Complex, which is comprised of 100 apartments housing approximately 450 residents.
For over 50 years, the Baptist Center has served the physical and spiritual needs of people from this community and all over the Johnson City area with the goal of pointing people to Jesus Christ.
Through weekly studies, kids aged 6-18 are given the opportunity to hear about Jesus and His love for them from caring, Christian volunteers. During the school year, the younger elementary-aged kids meet on Tuesdays for a light meal, Bible study, and craft. The older students meet on Thursdays for more in-depth look at God’s Word with a meal as well.
The Baptist Center provides for the spiritual and social needs of the adults and parents in our community through Bible study and fellowship. The adults spend time together each week in a small group to read God’s Word and grow together in the knowledge of Jesus.
We provide a full lunch for those who attend this small group on Wednesdays at noon.
We seek to meet the physical needs of families in our community not only through the meals provided at our Bible studies and holidays but also through our monthly clothes closet.
Clothing, household items, and personal hygiene supplies are donated generously by members of HBA churches.
Each summer, we provide weekly activities for the children in the community through the help of committed Holston Baptists. Youth and adult groups from our churches become missionaries in their own back yard by providing Backyard Bible Clubs, movie nights, work days, and more during the months of June and July.

Pray
Pray for the children and adults who come to our weekly Bible studies, asking the Lord to bring glory to His name through our efforts. Pray that the Lord would continue to send workers who can be good role models for the children and youth, especially.
Give
Donate hygiene supplies, school supplies, backpacks, snacks for children, and new or lightly used clothing items for all ages regularly. Pick up a child for the annual Angel Tree and give them a Christmas they would otherwise not have received.
Serve
Volunteer to help lead the Bible studies, clothes closet, and seasonal events. Host the Thanksgiving meal. Bring a mission team or work group for a special event, block party, Backyard Bible Club, or work day.
