HBA Resources Available to YOU!

There are many resources available for you and your church at the Holston Baptist Association office. There are plenty of opportunities for you to get plugged in if you are looking for a ministry to get involved in. Here is a list of resources the HBA offers that can benefit you, your church, your small group or Sunday School class. Please call the HBA at 929-1196 if you would like to get involved in any of these events.

 

Youth Minister’s Fellowship

The Youth Minister’s Fellowship (YMF) is where the Youth Pastors from HBA churches come together on the third Thursday of each month, at a designated restaurant or other location, and prepare for the upcoming Student Conference. If you would like to be a part of this, please call HBA at 929-1196 or email Pam at pam@holstonba.org so we can put you on the email list. You will be informed where each monthly meeting will be.

Hospital Ministry

The hospital ministry is located at the Johnson City Medical Center ICU waiting room. Volunteers help families waiting on loved ones, answer phones, and communicate with doctors and nurses. If you would like to volunteer one day a month or more, please call Lois Bridges at (423) 335-9032.

Johnson City Baptist Center

The Johnson City Baptist Center (JCBC) is a ministry designed to share the gospel and help families at the Tyler Apartments. The Tyler Apartments are a federally funded income housing facility comprised of 100 apartments and approximately 450 residents. There are a variety of things that the JCBC does that you can get involved in: Tuesday/Thursday children’s Bible studies, provide a snack for the children, Christmas in August gifts (school supplies and hygiene items for families), Birthday Boxes (small inexpensive gifts to put in a box for children), Clothes Closet, Christmas Wish List, Read the Bible to someone, bring your mission group to provide activities for a weekly activity or a few days during the summer. Student Conference

The Holston Baptist Association has a Student Conference that is held at the Ridgecrest Conference Center in Ridgecrest, North Carolina. This is for students in grades 7 – 12.  The 2023 Student Conference will be March 24 -26, 2023. For more information and details, go to www.hbastudents.org or call HBA at 929-1196.

Fun-in-the-Son Kids Camp

The Holston Baptist Association has a kid’s camp that will be held June 14 – 17, 2022 at LongView Ranch in Mosheim, Tennessee. The 2022 camp theme is “The Cowboy Way.” Each year students from grades 3 – 6 enjoy Fun in the Son.

Executive Board

Are you missing information? Feel like you don’t know what is going on in the association? Come to the HBA Executive Board Meetings to be in the know about your Baptist Association. Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings. All pastors and Executive Board elected members are strongly encouraged to attend. We announce upcoming events, ministry teams give reports of their activity, and business aspects of HBA are reported. If you would like to be a part of this, talk to your pastor/church to serve as the member-at-large representing your church.

Ministry Teams

The Holston Baptist Association has six ministry teams that we believe are essential to kingdom work within our 94 churches. Our six ministry teams are Administrative, Church Planting and Revitalization, Disaster Relief, Family Ministry, Local Ministry, and Partnership Missions. If you are interested in joining a team, please let us know.

The Messenger

Holston Baptist Association has a monthly electronic newsletter. You can sign up to receive The Messenger via email. Due to mailing costs, we no longer mail printed copies to churches or individuals.  If you would like to receive The Messenger via email or text, please text JOINHBA to 84576, email Pam at pam@holstonba.org, or call the HBA at 929-1196 and we will put you on The Messenger email list. 

HBA Block Party Trailer

The Holston Baptist Association owns a Block Party Trailer for our association churches to use for evangelistic purposes. It has a popcorn machine, snow cone machine, cotton candy machine, a bounce house, an obstacle course with a slide, a mini sound system, a generator, and comes fully stocked for up to 150 people. To reserve the Block Party Trailer, churches must download and complete the request form and, after reading the rules & regulations, submit the required refundable deposit, along with $100 rental fee.  To reserve the Block Party Trailer call the HBA at 929-1196.

DVD Study Series

There are DVD Bible Studies available at the HBA for churches to check out. This would be a good tool to use in your Sunday School/Small Groups, Women’s Studies, Men’s Studies, WMU, or any ministry within your church. Come by the office and check out all the different studies we have available. We also have projectors and screens including a 25 foot screen for you to use.

Christian Counselling

If you need any type of counseling, please call the office at 929-1196 and we will help you get in contact with a Christian counselor.

Biannual Meetings

Each year the Holston Baptist Association holds two meetings for the purpose of allowing duly elected church messengers to transact the business of the association. These meeting are vitally important to the function of the association and your presence is highly valued.

Carnival Ministry

The carnival ministry is to reach the carnival workers at the Appalachian Fair grounds. We have  purchased a covered trailer to better serve seasonal workers at the fair in Gray. Churches donate clothing and they have a devotion in the mornings.

Jacob’s Well

This is where the fair ministry workers hand out water to the carnival workers and those that come to the fair. They also hand out verses of scripture, take prayer requests, and talk to individuals that come through.

Disaster Relief

Disaster relief has cruised across the state as well as the country going to help those in need after a storm or flood. Training is required to help in disaster relief.

Raceway Ministries

Bristol Raceway Ministries goal is to serve at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee. We provide a diverse set of sixteen distinct ministries to race fans to make their time at the speedway a more wonderful experience.  With more than 400 volunteers including Chaplains, we minister inside the racetrack and to the tens of thousands of race fans staying in 17 surrounding campgrounds. Bristol Raceway Ministries chaplains also minister at the Food City Family Night festivities held in downtown Bristol during the autumn race week.

Pastor Search

If your church is in need of a pastor or crisis intervention we have a search committee that will help you with your circumstance and also supply you an interim that will fit your needs. Just call the Holston Baptist Association at 929-1196.

Appalachian Trail Ministry

Do you enjoy hiking or reach out to hikers? Here is a ministry just for you. The Appalachian Trail Ministry is all about reaching the hikers on the trail. Each spring, they provide a cookout for the hikers and sit and talk with them. Churches come together and provide hamburgers, hot dogs, snacks, desserts, and drinks as well as information about salvation. Baptist Collegiate Ministry

The Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) is a ministry focused on college students at ETSU. These students are able to have lunches, dinner, and to hear the Word. Right now they are looking for coffee and pop tart donations for their coffee cart they have on campus. If you would like to donate coffee or pop tarts or supply a meal, please contact the BCM at 794-7455.

Bible Drill

The Holston Baptist Association has children and youth Bible drills that come together every spring and competes among the other HBA churches. They later compete against other churches and even can go to the state competition in Nashville. These children will learn and memorize God’s Word over the course of the year.
